After Dinner Speakers: David Mellor, Rachel Heyhoe-Flint, Bob 'The Cat' Bevans

David Mellor pursues a multi-faceted career. Having been a successful politician and lawyer for most of his life, he now runs his own international business consultancy while juggling a busy life in broadcasting and journalism, and his role as Chairman of the Football Taskforce. His successful career in politics began with a position as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department of Energy, where was he youngest member of Margaret Thatcher’s administration for four years. He moved to the Home Office in 1993, and then to the Foreign Office in 1997 as Minister of State responsible for East-West Relations and the Middle East. He became Minister of Health in 1988, and joined the cabinet to become Arts Minister in 1990. Since leaving politics, David has built a successful business consultancy and numbers several large international companies amongst his clients including British Aerospace, GKN and Ernst and Young. David’s broadcasting career and his love of football, mixed with his parliamentary knowledge provide an entertaining, sharp and original after dinner speech. He is equally at home in formal environments as an imaginative and incisive chairperson or conference speaker.
