After Dinner Speakers: Carl Fogarty, Alan Simpson, Julian Clary

Carl Fogarty is the most successful rider in Superbike history. His achievements on the track have gained him the respect of his peers and massive popularity amongst bike fans. In the Nineties Britain was going through a bad patch in the sporting world. It was hard to find a Brit producing world class performances - except for one man, Carl Fogarty. When Carl won his 2nd Superbike World Title in 1993, his popularity exploded. The fans started coming back to motorbike sport and the Brands Hatch Superbike round attracted over 120,000 'Foggy' fans. In all Carl Fogarty has won the World Superbike Championship Title 4 times as well as becoming the 1993 World Endurance Champion, 1990 TT F1 World Cup winner, 1988+'89 World TT F1 Champion and winning 3 Isle of Man TTs. He also holds the Superbike record for Most Wins, Most Doubles, Most Pole Positions (Isle of Man) and is also the Isle of Man TT Mountain Circuit absolute lap record holder. Foggy's racing carer came to an abrupt end in a gravel trap in Australia, his arm badly broken in a freak accident lapping a backmarker in the 2000 Championship - a championship he was odds on to win for the 5th time. Although no longer racing you can't escape the man. His 2000 autobiography sold over 135,000 copies in hard back and the video ‘Foggy - Hell for leather’ was also a massive seller. Having just launched his second book and ‘Hell for Leather 2’, the British public haven't forgotten Carl Fogarty yet, and he is in constant demand for personal appearances.
