After Dinner Speakers: Alistair McGowan, Tony Blackburn, Arthur Smith

Alistair McGowan is well-known for his hilarious impressions. After leaving the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1989, Alistair began working as a stand-up comic, before moving on to Spitting Image where he provided the voices for famous personalities like Tony Blair, John Major, Chris Eubank and Hugh Grant. He has since appeared on television as a comic on a long list of programmes such as The Stand Up Show, Auntie’s Sporting Bloomers, and Tarbuck Late. Not just restricted to stand-up Alistair is also a talented actor, and is probably best known for his role as ‘Spock’ in Tim Firth’s multi-award winning Preston Front. He also has extensive radio acting experience, taking the lead in Cold Call, and Roberto Zucco. However, his favourite work has been reading books for Books at Bedtime. He is a well established after dinner speaker for a diverse range of subjects, and never fails to capture the audience’s attention.
